AD ARTEM is a registered ART SOCIETY in Klerksdorp and is affiliated to SANAVA (The South African National Association for Visual Arts).

Members of AD ARTEM are country-wide including professional as well as amateur artists. Well if you are an artist living in the Klerksdorp area, or you are just someone with an interest in the finer things in life then you can become an Ad Artem member. These meetings are held (for now) at The Magic Brush. Born in the Paarl (1956), Marica grew up in a family with a keen eye for beauty, lines and colour. Already at an early age she had a passion for the visual arts. Her current work is the culmination of several months of experimenting with different media to find her own voice as artist. 2-dimentional artworks must be presented in such a way that it can be exhibited on a wall during the exhibition, and the top end of the work must be indicated clearly if the work is abstract. An independent panel of judges were appointed and the outcome is final. Accepted works must remain on exhibit for the duration of the exhibition. All entries must be inspired by the Word of God, the Bible. The exhibition is open to all South African resident artists at least 18 years of age and older. All 2D works should be framed or blocked with no visible staples on sides and completely prepared for hanging. Inclusion of the motivation and scriptural reference is required. All artwork is to be identifiable by a copy of the entry form attached to the back of the artwork. The product of prayer and scriptural study of your chosen passages from the Bible. Excellence of presentation and technique is a given. All work must: be accompanied by an artist’s CV and the relevant Scriptural passage you have referred to and an explanation of your application. The reason for this is that some of our viewers will be unfamiliar with the concepts and symbols we have used. This provides us with an educational opportunity where we can all learn from one another. The complete procedure for painting a portrait, from the preliminary sketch through to a finished painting, in a direct alla-prima approach. Applying principles of drawing in combination with the knowledge of individual features, shapes and masses to create an accurate likeness of the subject. Composing a portrait, creating character (mood), propper understanding of edges, controlling focus in a portrait and many more. Guitar Man Art School offers students excellent opportunities in all forms of art by encouraging students to explore their potential and develop their creative talents.
